F type - Mods
The 'F' type had advanced features for its day including a very low
chassis underslung at rear (chassis frame below the axle.) Bodies
were timber-framed and steel or alloy panelled. Suspension was by
4 longitudinal leaf springs in sliding trunnions.

The overhead camshaft 6 cylinder in-line engine was of only 1271cc
with a non-crossflow head and twin SU carburettors. Camshaft drive is
by bevel gears via a vertical shaft. A large finned sump is of alloy, like
the camshaft cover, to aid cooling and a fan is fitted.

Gearbox is non-syncromesh E.N.V. 4-speed 'double-top' - 4th gear is
like an overdrive - with short 'racing' style lever in long extension.

The 'ladder' chassis is of 'C' section steel girders with rivetted and
bolted tubular cross members - the engine adding to rigidity. Cable
brakes operated by central cross-tube controlled equally by knock-off
