F W Stiles, the U.K. Concessionaire for Alfa Romeo, commissioned 'Threesome' bodywork (with its third 'dickey seat' in the streamlined tail) from James Young to be fitted to chassis imported from Italy, instead of the usual Touring or Pinin Farina coachwork. 'Stiles' bodies fitted to 'F' types, and other cars such as the 'D' type, share the same provenance which explains what some see as an Italian influence.
